What is the best place to get 1999 C230K transmission parts?

I need to replace the transmission on mine and an independent mechanic (Kirk, from Young Motors 613-234--2910) here in Ottawa (Canada) told me that they don't even rebuild the transmissions anymore, they just get MB rebuilds done by MB.

The cost of the tranny: $2390 (CDN) = $1959 (US, federal reserve notes not dollars, hehehe, read your constitution)
The torque converter is another $1000 (CDN) (if needed, Kirk said most likely not) = $820 (US, federal reserve notes not dollars, hehehe, read your constitution)
The cost of the labor: $500 (CDN) = $410 (US, federal reserve notes not dollars, hehehe, read your constitution)
The cost of the fluid: $20 x 10 liters (CDN) = $16.4 (US, federal reserve notes not dollars, hehehe, read your constitution)

Now... I don't know if these prices are reasonable or not... But please feel free to comment...
What I would like to know is:

Where is the best place to buy parts from (for a rebuild), you know, the typical stuff, clutch plates, seals, rings, actuators... etc.. (other than Germany): ?

I guess the other question is: If one has experience with rebuilding the Chrysler electronic transmissions this should be no sweat, right?

crap man... what happend to your trans? why did it fail?

I have a 2000 c230K with 64k miles on it. and I had a 190E 2.3 that needed the trans rebuilt 2 times in 1 year!!! the car only had 100,000 miles on it too!

I bought this c230k thinking the trans wouldnt go out for a long time..

I feel your pain man.. it cost wayyy to much to replace a transmission.. they need to start building them stronger... just about everyone I talk to has had their trans rebuilt

Anyone know whether or not using the tiptronic feature on the transmission is bad for reliability?

I don't find it very useful, however, I do sometimes use it to decelerate on offramps?
