Had my car in the stealership today for 97.5k service, and they claim they found the car wouldnt start because of worn tumblers in the ignition switch. Can this part just go like *that*? It just seems funny to me as I haven't had any trouble starting the car lately. $750 for this part and service (like $80+ an hour labor over there) so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem. Thanks

anything can happen with the electrical systems, but $750 for the tumbler, thats rape. the tumbler is no more than $200 at the most expensive dealership, and the labor is between 1 and 2 hours.

NEVER keep more than 2 or 3 keys on a keyring.
The # 1 cause for wearing out ignition switches. ;)

Thanks for the advice, but I don't use a key ring. Just the key man, no pocket buldge.

Haha- unfortunately that's the only buldge I'm going to have after the work I'm having done. ... Damn stealership is cleaning out the money clip.
