hi i just signed up and im new to this.i have a few questions about my 1998 c43.it has 91xxx miles and ive done few things to it like: k&n filters, ama's oil, took off the resanater and now running straght pipe inlpace of it,new carbon fiber grill for better air, smoke cornners just for looks, hid's 10,000k,245 45 17 tires in the rear.
i was going to lower it with h&r srings but i found that the amg spring are thicker then h&r's.is that better or should i not lower it.this car has a lot of torque and rubs ever time i shift and still did when i had the 245 40 17's.what should i do about lowering it and what brand of springs should i go with? i was looking into a evospart Under Drive Pulley Kit but havnt got around to it. ohhhhh i wanted to know if anyone knows if there are slotted or drilled rotors that are not the big brake kits for the c43 and were to buy.
just let me know what i should do and what to buy.thanks

H&R sport springs are much stiffer than the stock springs. You will feel less dive when you accelerate and brake. As for rubbing, I am not too sure why your rear tires are rubbing. I am running 255 in the rear with a 1.5inch drop and have very very minimal rubbing (mainly in the front).
I have an uderdrive pulley kit, but have yet to install it. I am waiting on my GTech meter so I can record data. :)
You may be able to find slotted/drilled rotors at Brembo, but I am not sure if they have OEM replacement rotors. One thing you could do, is buy the OEM and send them out to be slotted.
Feel free to contact me if you have any other q's. Also, there is alot of info on this board. :D

The brakes on the C43 were one of its strong points. I just
can't bring myself to drop almost three thousand bucks for a
big brake kit. I'm going to follow the advice from the club and order the factory rotors and have them cross-drilled. That along
with painting the calipers and rotor centers red should look
pretty tight. I read that the stock C43 brakes outperformed
the Ferrari F350 brakes in '98.

I hear you on the cost and performance. One appealing thing about the Brembo's or any other BBK is that they will be lighter than the stockies. Performance wise, the BBK will be better but not by a large margin. One thing you could also do is step up your brakelines to stainless steel lines.

I have my "speedybenz custom suspension kit" on order at this very moment.
Speedybenz [Jeff] has done a lot with exhaust and intake on his car too.
Another perfomance option not too steep in price is the Kleemann Limited Slip. I'll get that installed when I have the suspension installed.
I hope one day to go for the Kleemann Supercharger @ $11K.
dunno if you're only interested in performance minded options, but you can get the COMAND installed by MBenzNL, with integrated hands-free phone kit with the Nokia 6310i phone.
(as you have a 1998 too, it's a bigger job since Steve has to run fiber to replace the analog wiring, as well as a few other things that are easier done on a 1999. If you already have the 6-disc changer like I did, you'll have to remove it & buy another to replace it with the fiber optic one.)

Aftermarket rotors are an expensive proposition but not as bad as the full on Brembo upgrade. I got front and rear cross drilled Disc Italia rotors and Rotax Gold pads for $1300 from Brake World. Front rotors are roughly $750 a pair because they are directional. Disc Italia seems to make rotors for AMG. Mine came with AMG cast into the rotors. Cast not stamped. The rears were $399.00 and the pads comprised the rest. The calipers on the AMGs are quite good. I felt it was a good upgrade when it came time to replace my rotors and pads to go the way I did. I am happy with the setup. Checkwith www.brakeworld.com
