im in need of 2 new tires. i am currently running 225/40/18 and it rubs when i turn. i got the fenders rolled twice already. i am thinking maybe 215/40, 225/35, or 215/35 to get rid of the rubbing. is it safe to run 215/35 on a 8" wide rim? i checked ebay for 215/35 and it read...

The section width on these tires is 8.5", tire diameter is 23.9", sidewall height 3", minimum rim width 7", maximum rim width is 8.5"

if this is right, i can safely run a 215/35/18 tire on my 18x8" rim, correct?

where are you rubbing at.

alot of times its hitting the splash guard not the fender itself. some member choose to modify the splash gaurd so the tyre doesnt rub up against it.

if its rubbing on the outside what is the backspacing on your wheel? as 225 is the standard issuse size most ppl with 202 run up front.

im pretty sure its rubbing on fender. i am on h&r cut half a coil, and 18x8 et 38+15mm spacer (spacer needed to clear grease thingy). so yeah.. i shoulda mentioned that in my first post. would i be good on 215s?

rhyi since you mentioned you have wheels with ET38mm and using 15mm spacers...that means you're have the final offset of 23mm for 18x8..

Unless you raise the car, I don't think there is any other good solution for your rubbing..

obviously the offset is way too aggresive and especially for a lowered W202..

just food for thought..

How much clearence you have with the "grease thingy"? I'm think it'd be easier to get smaller spacers if possible than new tires.

Also, try thicker spring pads.

i am in need of new tires anyways.. the grease thingy only needs 10-12mm spacer, but i already had 15mm so i just used those

same problem im dealing with, so 215 tires wouldn't work, or help resolve some rubbing since the width of the tire is less wide therefor further away from fender or splash guards or whatever its rubbing against?

Mine rub's also, but not that much. i'm running 18 x 8.5, 30 offset, 225/40/18 tires, h&r springs cut one coil with pad #2. i shaved the corner where the bumper and fender meets and that somehow reduced my problem.
