the car is a 1995 c220 with about 119k on it. the car cranks fine but it doesn't fire. at first i thought it was the top engine wiring harness because its was all bare wires, so i replaced them but the car would not start. now i believe it could be a fuel problem thats causing the car not to start. i heard it might be the fuel pump regulator. is this a common problem on this this car like the engine wiring harness. how can i test if it is working properly. anybody have the part number and how much does it cost.

To see if the fuel pump is working check the fuel pressure.. connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail at the fitting. check fuel pressure with the key on and while cranking.
you can tell if the fuel pump is on when you turn the ignition on.. you should be able to hear it come on.
as for cost and part number, I dont know.

get the stock pump, otherwise you will have to plug one of the feeds, which will hurt the performance of your car, and it will put a strain on the pump which will cause it to fail prematurely.

so today i took off the stock pump and test fired it with the car battery, and you know what, it fired. what else can i check to find out why the pump won't prime. i checked the green relay and pulled the 30 amp spade fuse and it was fine.

the relay itself might be bad. to test, remove the relay, and check the voltage supply at pin 30, if there is 12V than the relay is the culprit. if there is no power, then check the fuses.
