Probably no but please I'll appreciate if someone more informed than me, may confirm that kompressor itself does not need any kind of maintenance work/procedure.
Should be last for many many kilometers:) ....but how many?;) :D
Thanks in advance.

I've been told that it needs no maintenance and that it shouldn't fail until after 160,000km.
FYI...I enquired into the replacement cost (mine is fine, but just wanted to know) and it was $2,200 CDN from an MB dealer. The guy at the parts desk mentioned that he had never ordered one, so that's a good thing I guess.
I'm assuming that servicing an existing unit would be less than that.

Dear Friends, thanks a lot for your info and reply. So it seems that our supercharger will last a for a quite resonable time (my car just passed 100000Km one month ago):)
I've also asked to the dealer when I purchase, used, my car and they also said me they never remember to have dismounted or repaired one.
As said this should be a very good thing.
Good is also to know your confirmation on the maintenance free of this nice:) mechanical part.
Hi:)

Man, this site is awesome. If only someone were selling some wheels a little closer to Toronto!

I asked my SA at my dealer and he told me he could remember 3 2.3L Kompressors going bad. Luckily for the owners they still had warranty. He said it was 2 SLK 230K's and 1 W202. He said its very rare though, he said they have alot more C32's and AMG s/c'ed cars going out. I remembering him saying the part itself is cheap, but the labor is very extensive and very expensive. If my S/C ever goes, hopefully I can get a good deal on a crashed 5.0 or 5.4L V8 and salvage the motor and tranny.

The SC does not require any servicing at all.

I havent seen any SC fail themselves.. but I have seen a few SC clutches fail on some W202's and R170's.. at the time a seperate clutch wasnt available so the whole supercharger had to be replaced.. now there is a clutch available on its own, so its much cheaper to repair if the clutch goes.
