Has anyone ever done duel exhaust on a W202? Is it possible? I would think that since noone has done it there is something inhibiting true duel exhaust, something which the ultimate W202 should DEFINATELY feature. Is the spare tire in the way? Possible?

yes the cd box in the trunk, it has been done two ways cut out the cd changer box out with a plasma cutter, or get a really low body kit on the back.

I have little experience with exhaust, but am looking to upgrade to a 55 motor in the very distant future and would LOVE to do duel exhaust. Possible?

are you talking about one dual exhaust or two dual exhaust?

Yes, for a nice job, you need to plasma cut your sparewheel compartment.

Seems like an awful lot of work...why bother?

to sum it up... too much work, too much money, not worth it at all... unless this is the last thing you are doing and have stupid amounts of cash...., and a cool idea yes for having to muffs, but a small body like that doesn't work well with it imo....

expect anywhere between 7-15 hrs of welding and cutting labor, plus 2-4hrs for cosmetics, and 1-3hrs for mufler installation. this is just my estimate.

The last one, we did, was actually on another SLK230K just like mine. It took us 3 hours build the exhaust system.. and another half hour to cut out the sparewheel compartment and reweld a ss plate along with stock flat to reinforce it. I did charge the guy 6 hours of labor though! He understands the value since nobody else wants to do it for him. On SLK, there is vacuum line and power cable for the roof to be watched out. I think the W202 is much simpler.

On an SLK32 this would be a cool mod. If resonator is removed a true dual to quad tip exhaust could be done. I wish I was in Denver. I'd definitely consider it as I think the quad tips on the R171 SLK look great.

$350 in labor and $400 and change for the dual magnaflows. We started behind the cats w/ dual pressed bent pipes. Nothing fancy/ mandrel on that one.
