before, many times but I was hoping to hear from someone who has them. It is my understanding that the cars in the pictures have projector lenses. Is that why this affect is given with this type of kit? It gives off a nice blueish, bright look. Do you think it would have a similar effect with non-projector lights or is the blueish look I see infact the projector altering the color of the light? I would be satisfied with the look of either of the two acura's...

i had those on my 98 prelude... pretty much really expensive hyperwhite bulbs... your better of swapping the whole headlight assembly going bi xenon or i think it is bosch 10000k... i may be wrong... but the ones on ebay are not worth it... imho

You can get that blueish look without HID. Just need some hyperwhite bulbs. I'm runnin' some Nokyas, pretty happy with 'em.

I have the siverstars now, no blue tint. Nokyas, you say? Where u get them. Do they have them for the fogs in the headlight too?
I'm trying to avoid the whole new light assembly thing.

The street glow "xenon" bulbs give off a really nice bright white with bluish tint. I also had the sylvania but they are just like stock maybe little whitter. The only problem is that the bulbs sometimes burn out very soon. There is a set philips make but there about a $100 a set. I would just get retro fit them. In fact I know a very very good retrofitter in NJ. If your interested let me know and I will see how mcuh it will cost. (Usually with projectors, all parts and labor its about $600 total)

Hello,
I think i know what your trying to say. With Hid's, regardless if in halogen housing or xenon housing in w202's will have some type of color. When comparing halogen silverstars or any other jap brand that sells xenon look bulbs with hid's, you can totally tell which has hid's and which don't. Both give off nice color, but hid's are much brighter.
When driving in front of a car with projectors, you will often see the light change color or "flicker". This will only happen with projectors.
Oem hid's in hid housing will give off a nice color and perfect cutoff beam as well as light output, but you will rarely see any flickering if any.
Hid's in halogen housing, will give off nice color as well, but the beam pattern is just like halogen beam pattern, just 100 times brighter, giving better output, but not to it's full potential.
Hope that helps.

I would like to thank everyone who responed. Thanks for the good info. I do however have some more questions. Is it possible to get this look by putting a bulb in my current stock housing?
http://japanjdm.com/ebay/DSC00105.jpe
I'm not sure what the housing for a stock 202 is classified as (hallogen)? So I'm not really clear on what you are saying.
What kind of bulbs will get me closest to this look? I've found that usually with hyperwhite bulbs I will only get a bright white look, no bluish tint.
If there is a bulb that can get me close to this look do they also make the smaller foglight bulbs so I can do all four the same?
Thanks,
JOhn
albanianbenz, I am interested in the place you know in NJ. I just spent a ton of money at the shop so I am not ready yet but I think that's probably something I would like to have done.

to get a headlight that blue you are going to have to get HIDs. you can get cheap HID kits on ebay for like 200 bucks. 8000k would do it, nice and blue. stock mercedes HID is around 4200k i think.
But if you dont want the HID and just want xenon gas bulbs then get PIAA they make the bluest ones i have ever seen, my freinds have tryed many brands too, but they all just end up going HID in the end.
BTW if u get HID with stock non hid houseing your beam pattern will be off and you will blind oncoming drivers!!

so if I went with one of those 200 dollar kits I would still need the HID housing for the lights right? And if I just bought the PIAA bulbs I would need the HID housing as well? what do the HID housings look like compared to the non-HID?

If I were you I would get an hid kit (bulbs, ballasts, ignitors). I highly reccomend the Philips D2S bulbs with Hella Gen 3 (G3)ballasts/ignitors. Here is a link of kit:
http://www.hidplanet.com/ballasts.html (the ones for $350)
Or even better here is a link of the kit above plus projectors:
http://www.hidplanet.com/package.html
If you search around ebay or forums you can prolly find them cheaper. To have the retro fit done labor + parts needed would be around $250 and that includes custom shroud.

If you just bought the PIAA bulbs usually around $80 it would give a nice white color with blueish tint at 6000k. As for the $200 kits technically its still not really HID but its usually better than just bulbs. Although if you are going to spend that much mine as well get the kits above.
