I finally got my front fneders widened to fit the 255/40/17 tires I am running and had enough extra added to the job so the front fenders will fit a 9.0" wide wheel. Tried to get it setup for a 275/40/17 front tire but it would have taken some work to the inner fenders and plastic bits.

So now I am running my 8.5" wide wheels with 15mm spacers and the increase in track width is noticable and nice. The rear fenders were also widened so I could go to a 10" wide rear wheel and it got rid of any rubbing with my 275/40/17 tires I run in the rear. I bartered building a WF400 Yamaha engine into a 450cc ripping fast engine for the body work.

His fenders came rolled from the factory, however, I'm sure he'll tell us all who widened them.

Need to see the car as a whole. The front looks killer, but that rear has got to be more voluptuous than Jlo now :D

you can only do so much without fabricating fender flares. TWS can do it and im sure theyve had a lot of experience with it. did mine myself and didnt heat up the paint enough n it started chipping!

They had to cut the front fender and then weld in a new piece to get the fender extended out far enough. The rear fenders were forced out using a body shop type hydraulic jack. It is not as noticable in the back and I really need a better pic. But let me see what I dig up. Better pics soon!!

Hell, I've ridden with Jeff at 6/10ths and some horsies down and even then, my intestines try to leave their natural home!

AJ,

In April at Sears Pt. I will give you a real ride at 10/10th's race track style, I promise a wicked fast ride.

Thanks for the nice comments on the car and body mods.

I need to get the longer rear lug bolts and move out the rear wheels and then lower the rear of the car a little more.

btw, Jeff, during my wicked fast ride at 10/10th's :D that day you were out with me, did you have the ESP turned off or was is normal?

Steve,

During your wicked fast ride I had the ESP on I think. A while ago I spent a few days with it off and even then it was very intrusive. But after a 1 or 1 1/2 days the ESP sort of learned that the car was going to continue on and it became almost nonintrusive.

So either the ESP does not work right now or it has loaded up the ECU with so many fault codes that it can't function.:p

So as long as the ESP stay in the background I leave it on just incase I really screw up and need the help to save my butt from a big ditch!

Ya, your car is special in its reluctance for ESP to interfere & remove the fun-factor of the ride ; moreso it seems then the extra 20mm of tire width you have front and back would suggest (and I had been using the same tires in the summer as you are presently, just narrower) ... though, duh, there is that custom suspension of yours @ work too -- difference between it and the stock AMG suspension seems quite obvious in that light!

My car's got Nokian RSI snows on for the winter. I've almost forgotten how nice it can be to drive when it's got traction. Annoying right now.

But I'll tell you, the ESP (or is it ASR ; ASR in this case I think) will activate for me while taking a turn with the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 tires far sooner and more frequently then it did for me with the Bridgestone Potenza SO3's. The Kinesis wheels I bought have Yokohama AVS ES100 on them; so I'll see how that goes ...though these don't rate as high as either of the other two on Tire Rack. (with all the tires I have & will have experience with I have to write some reviews on Tire Rack )

In any case though, I suspect I'll see similar reduction in ASR activation on turns with your suspension on my car too. I called the shop today who'll be installing it as an FYI. :lick: Looking forward to spring!

Speedy, are those Goodyear Eagle F1's? I am in need of new tires and have been looking at these. If you do have them, how is the handling/traction in wet conditions?

I think I like them better than the Kuhmo MX tires I had on before, They are quite, ride nice and do work very well in the rain. A very good tire I would buy again.
