Ok, i've searched and read alot about the aftermarket HID retrofits, but I have one final question.

I have 98 c280 with the stock halogens, and the beam pattern from the factory is already a really straight line. If I installed the pop-in ballasts and bulbs (say, off ebay) would this screw up the beat pattern tremendously? I'm asking this because not only could I not find many pictures of the beam pattern, but most the complaints I heard were from the pre-facelift 202's, which I think had different light housings?

Anyways, just a quick yes or no will do. But if yes, is the extra lighting worth the skewed beam pattern?

i believe if the bulbs have the shield on the bulb the pattern should be fine. For me it is at least.

What brand of kit did you buy?

There are so many "authentic" brands on ebay just wondering which one to go with so I don't get cheap stuff.

Anyone have any experience with the Ebay brands' conversion kits?

Your halogens are not a perfect cut off line. They look like it, but it isn't.
