Hi everyone. I have an issue I discovered one day when I wanted to change my car seat. All the positions work except the botten rear, where my back meets my ass. The seat cannot go up or down anymore. Is it the motor, I checked the switches as shown in the previous topic, as well as the wiring under the seat. I have taken the seat out many time so I have no issue with replacing the motor, I just want to know what to order to fix it. When I press the switch, it wont make a noise or smell or anything. But all the other positions work fine. Also, I checked the fuses, its not that. Thanks

have you hooked up a multimeter or test light to the connection at the motor to make sure there is power going to the motor?

Well, I have been meaning to get a light circuit tester for awhile, so I guess now is a good time. Do you think these are good? I am planning on getting one soon so I can test me seat.

While a test light will work in a pinch (you dont need to ebay them just goto your local auto store and pick it up for a few bucks or make your own with a spare tail light bulb) its best to invest in a multimeter. There are different ones available. I have both an analog and digital meter as I find them usefull for different things I do.

In your case I would suggest a simple digital meter such as the 15-Range Digital Multimter from radio shack. Model 22-810 for 20 bucks.

With a multimeter hooked up to your seat motor wires not only can you check for voltage or drop. But you can check if its a complete circuit or not.

You'll soon discover that most members here that do work on their cars electronics have a multimeter in their tool chest.

While running the wires its a good time to run the blinking wires up the doors to save time. On the MY 1995 we used for installation we've tapped the Black/White and Black/Green wires for the blinking portion. If you are unsure as to which wires colour your car uses for the blinking to the rear lights use a multimeter to figure out which wires you will need to use.

See I use it as well :)

So instead of buying a test light get a multimeter. It will help you with many projects you may be brewing up for your 202.

Alright, I will invest in a multimeter instead. I had one for my stereo but fried the wires, it was a nice digital one too. I can get a new set of wires for about $2 but cant find them anywhere. I will look into that and once I get it I will test and let you know. Thanks

Yes indeed, althought they have alot of electronic parts and moving items that most new cars still dont have, they have very very bad lumbar(sp?) support and can hurt your back on long drives. The back seats are great tho. Btw im 5'10" and drop my drivers seat back in the same fashion as a pimp would.;)
