At the risk for being blasted for not using search thoroughly enough...does anyone know of a good (read: cheap) distributor of OEM MB parts based in Canada (no $$$ for duty or crazy shipping).
I will need a couple of things shortly and would like to try and avoid the dealer.
thanks,
C

Go to the dealer. Toronto and Vancouver are full of sellers of counterfeit parts. The little shop on the corner who claims he can get a discount rate on OEM parts? Counterfeit. Virtually guaranteed in our fine city.
You didn't say what you needed to do, but I have also found that UAP aftermarket stuff is more expensive than OEM. I'm not sure why everyone thinks the dealer is a ripoff for everything. Sometimes their parts are significantly cheaper than aftermarket. For instance; wheel bearings (rear) I did on my old 190. $45 from the dealer. $180 from UAP. $110 from a bearing shop with my friend's shop discount.

That's a good point and I thought I should mention an experience I recently had with a local shop I took for a test-drive. The shop (where I went for an alignment) let me know my flex disc was on the way out. Their price was $150 for the part + 3 hours @ $80. MB was $190 for the part + 1.5 hours @$107...it would seem the mechanic gets your money no matter where you go.

Coolin, Benzfan,
Where do you guys go for service??
I'm in Toronto, too...stopped going to the dealer after warranty is over...now going to a small shop that does bmw and benz only.
Wondering if you guys have any shop recommendations??
Thanks

I usually go to Star One in Ajax. Booking an appointment there is easier than most dealers (much less lead time).
