here are a couple pics..

moer pics to come as I didnt have the time to snap pics during the install..
but I have driven it now, no check engine light on.
It sounds absolutly crazy!!.. when the diverter valve opens to atmosphere and releases the boost charge!.. it sounds a lil like a turbo blow off valve.. plus there is a massive supercharger whine now.. Im very pleased with the results.. not what I was expecting.. I didnt think it would be as loud.. but its awesome!

hehe mine was loud!,yours must be VERY loud!!,
the bypass sounds alittle different from the usual BOV huh,you will get alot of unusual looks!!!!

lol.. yeh mine is LOUD!! the sc whine is rediculous!!.. I love it. and when the diverter valve vents!!.. damn!.. osunds so cool.. yeh not like a BOV.. sounds different for sure.. but to describe it to someone.. it sounds like a blow off valve.
Im gonna have to take some video of me driving so you can hear it!!
unfrigin believable!!
When was driving it today I purposly got the valve to vent!!.. it just sounds so cool.
people seem to look for sure.. I bet they think its a turbo'd benz!

lol yeah the whine is soo loud,it was alittle too much for me at first....but im used to it now....
i guess you could relate the bypass noise to a BIG truck releasing there air assisted brakes...

i kinda wish it didnt keep the SC engaged when your coasting though,so its more stealth!!....

must be time for dyno!!:)

how much was it for the parts (not counting welding etc)?

Take the clips I can host them

parts alone.. Id say around $300..
but dont forget this isnt just a K&N cone filter added onto the stock setup.. everything is custom from the airbox right to the back of the supercharger.
expensive and time consuming to make yes.. but well worth the time and effort!
it sounds rediculous!! have I said that already?!! man I love it!

hey MrSpace.. I have a couple videos of my car driving.. pre intake though. can you host?
me driving, and me racing a C32!

Yes I can host up to about 600mb. I might not host it forever, but for a couple of weeks/months no problem

And I saw all what it involved. I will probably do a similar setup, altough mine might be in stainless steel since it can have really small welds on it. It's in my project this summer if I am not going to finland for 6 months.

do you have msn, you could send on this if you'Re high speed and then I'll host them.

Without having heard yours or Slammed's setup, I can only guess that MBZ is using the same Bosch bypass valve that Porsche and Saab use.

I've used that one before in a vent-to-atmosphere type of setup (something it's not designed for), and if I had to describe, it sounds like a tired lazy blow-off valve. Rather than having a short and sweet release of air, it's long and drawn out.

But as long as it's just a vacuum-actuated valve, there's no reason that you can't use a standard turbo BOV in the same manner and achieve the same sound and protection against compressor surge.

Ray,
The valve is controlled electronicly....
mine vents very quickly, alot faster than the BOV i had on my Evo...
i think its mainly due to the larger diameter butterfly style valve...it allows alot more air to flow then most vaccum style BOV...(upto a certain HP)
the noise that maybe makes it drag on could be the SC whine being emitted from bypass after it dumps the pressure??....

someone is yet to prove the BOV system works with no hassel,i have seen it on an SLK,but heard there were still problems....

yeah James Wei had it on his SLK, a vortech valve

he had problems at low rpm I think and check engine light

but he had his SC clutch removed so there was not the issue of air coming in frm the valve as the nromal setup where when the SC is not spinning the air is taken from the bypass valve to the TB.

and that whole set up was discussed in great depth in another thread!!
what was it.. like 14 pages!!
it doesnt look like its a very easy system to make work.. and who knows if it has any benefits at all over the stock unit.. I say it doesnt at all after all the info I gathered. waste of time to do it.. I really dont want my check engine light on.. or poor performance!

anyway.. the diverter valve is electroniclly controlled as was mentioned by 23K.. and Ive noticed mine is a very fast release of air.. not drawn out or slow at all.
Ive notice also that when pulling hard form a stop and you lose traction the valve vents.. then closes again to start creating more boost when traction is back.. the whole system is controlled by the ECU and ASR!

yeah we won't go again into this!

You can probably relocate the stock bypass valve to remove that black piping tho.

yeh definetly.. the whole entire valve can be relocated.. as 23K did.. moved it lower down to the fender well if Im not mistaken, since he has a custom boost side flange.. he moved the valve onto the actual pipe instead of on the flange in the stock location.
