its harder to get bass in the cabin, than most cars, but not impossible.

It's just a sheetmetal panel behind the rear seats. If you take out the black plastic panel in your trunk thats up by the rear seats you can see it, or you could take out your rear seat, neither is hard to do at all. I cut a hole in mine where the armrest is. It makes a noticable difference with the 500w setup I have now, but back when I had my 200w basslink I couldn't really tell.

Can you further describe, I never remember seeing this.

Ok, it's kinda hard to describe, but here's how it goes. From the front of the car towards the rear you have the backrest of the rear seat, then a layer of sound deadening material (remove this), then the sheetmetal, then the black plastic thing which you can see in the trunk. It's a large piece of black plastic that runs the width and height of the trunk and sits against the far wall of the trunk. Just stick your head in there and look around you'll see. It's attached by tabs at the top and bottom and by kind of a lip on the sides, no actual clips or anything to undo if I recall, just pull on it.

I'm glad we don't have the gas tank between the rear seats and the trunk like my W126 did! Only reason I got good bass was cause the previous owner cut out the whole rear deck to mount free air subs.

Yes there is a rear firewall, which conforms to safety regulations whenever there is a trunk-mounted battery.

As for bass, you do need a little bit more oomph to overcome the firewall, but nothing rediculous. My MCC404 is giving a single 10" Eclipse dvc 400w RMS, and it's more than enough for my SQ system (balanced with 150w RMS to each front channel).

But yeah, just make sure you have a clean sub that can handle the power, a proper enclosure, and at least 300w RMS.
