what kind of car do you have, if its for an I6 c280 I would be down for a group buy.... I think it adds 10-15hp

Sorry, but it doesn't "add" any hp per se. It only reduces parasitic losses. Also, if you get this for your car, get before and after dynos...the piece of mind would be worth it.

from what I understand....EVOsport does not have a pulley kit for the I6 motor.

the only kit available would be for V6 and V8 model benzes.

I thought someone was talking to EVOsport about making an I6 kit....but not enough people were interested and the idea fell through......that's what I remember...may be wrong though.

I would be very interested in buying a pulley kit for my C36....with the limited amount of uprade options available...I'll take anything!!!

If I were you....I'd be all over that kit!!
I know people with beemers that have the kit and they have no complaints.

quote from EVOsport web page:

"Engineered not only to be the best pulley kits on the market, but to provide the best compromise between performance and reliability! Specifically, we have designed them to underdrive the water pump, power steering pump and alternator*. We do not believe it is safe to change the crank pulley due to the potential harm to the crank. These kits provide 10%-20% overall reduction in driving your car's systems and have been dyno tested to provide up to 12hp gain!"

by imderdriving the water pump, don't u run the risk of overheating?>>

talking to people that have this kit on beemers.....no issues.

best thing.....send EVOsport an email with your questions.....the'll get back to you with all the details as to what will hapen when you install.

I would guess eveything will be ok......dudes with honda's/acura's do this mod everyday!

here....this will explain how an under-drive pulley kit works......from the UUC website (another popular kit for BMWs) Same idea for any other motor....

" A car's engine does many things other than just making the car move. Power is used to run the various accessories... things like the water pump, power steering pump, and alternator.

All of these use horsepower, horsepower that is lost. Power that could be making the car faster.

Each accessory uses rotary power - each accessory is turned to perform it's function, whether it's an electrical component (the alternator) or a fluid displacing component (the water pump and power steering pump). They all have a pulley which takes power from the crankshaft pulley via a belt.

Some of the engine accessories take more power than they really need, dramatically affecting engine performance.

Like an overprotective parent setting a curfew, there is a very big safety margin built into many systems of a BMW, especially in the accessories.

Driving these accessories at higher rpm is a waste of energy, running it at a much higher rate than it needs to for optimum effectiveness. This is energy which could be put toward acceleration instead.

What's an underdrive pulley?

An underdrive pulley is a replacement accessory pulley that bolts up the same as stock, but has a different size (ratio) and material specifications intended to free up lost horsepower. By increasing the diameter of each accessory pulley, the speed at which the accessories are turning relative to engine RPM decreases.

Does this actually make horsepower?

Underdriving the accessories does not add power to the engine, it frees up the power that is normally wasted on overdriven accessories. The theory is that a larger pulley will drive the accessories slower thus reducing their parasitic horsepower loss. No more power total, but more power sent to the wheels. As an additional benefit, the reduction in wear (less usage) on the accessories due to the lower duty cycles can extend the life of these parts.

However, a look at each pulley-driven system under the hood will tell you why it isn't as simple as "just a bigger pulley".

Which accessories can I underdrive?

Of the four accessories that can be underdriven with a larger drive pulley, one is electrical (the alternator) and two are fluid pumps (the water pump and the power steering pump). The fourth is a compressor (the air conditioning unit).
UUC Motorwerks Ultimate Underdrive Pulley set provides replacement pulleys for the water pump, power steering pump, and alternator. Please see the "Parts in Detail" (E36 3-series or E46 3-series) pages for more information.

What abut the weight?

While some pulley advertisers do advertise "lightest weight", we feel that to be somewhat deceptive... in our extensive testing, we have proven that the actual weight of the pulleys is not a factor in increasing power gains whatsoever. Each pulley itself weighs just a few ounces... shaving off a small amount of additional aluminum will not make one single bit of measurable power. Weight savings in a BMW that are important are in the much larger rotating components such as a lightened flywheel or lighter road wheels."

as I remembering reading there was a group buy for the I6, and by the time I found it, the buy was over, so I do believe they had made something, unless the entire thread was some huge lie, then I am sure they had made one before....

ashkan, I told you there are no pulleys for I6. I was the part of that group buy. when it passed, I did not get any responce from anyone, so I emailed evosport and they told me that they have never made a set for I6 and that they dont plan on making one. their exact words.

Here's a before and after dyno pull:

HOWEVER, this is on a 5.4L M113, and I would not automatically assume that your results will be similar. All engines behave differently, so I would try to find out if there are any others out there with dynos for your particular application.

You guys are interested in UD pulleys for the 104 motor right? I may be able to help you out. Also I will post the gains of UD pulleys that I installed on a C320 before and after.

Here's the Dyno run I got from Josh R with the Evosport UD pulleys.
