C280 5 Speed

So, I've been reading some past threads & it seems that the C280's had a faulty 5 speed tranny, is this true? - was the 00' tiptronic any better? - What were the problems, I'm gonna be putting alot of freeway miles on this thing so I don't want many problems, any info?

i have over 87k with my 97 which is 5 speed, and I have never had problems with it.... and I drive hard

im selling or trading my 96 c280 with the 3 speed tranny for $8,500 or trade for a 97 or newer

You mean 4 speed, don't you? I don't think any C class ever had a 3 speed.
