My birthday is coming up on May 20. I have a list of things that I want to get for my C280 and there is no way that my parents will get me everything I want. This is why I am posting to ask what I should get:
1.) Koni Adj. Sport Shocks ($240) with H&R springs ($229) = $470
OR
2.) 18x8 AMG Aero II Monoblock wheels ($1176) with Khumo Ecsta HP4 716 tires ($176) = $1352

Prices are courtesy of tirerack.com... obviously the suspension is a lot cheaper than the wheels and so my dad will probably get the suspension for me if that is all I want. As far as the wheels go I will most likely have to pay for about half.

Which do you think will be more beneficial?

Does anyone have any AMG Aero II Monoblocks that they can sell me for cheaper than $1176?

This is a little off topic, but whats the deal with sway bars?

remember if you dont install the springs/shocks someone will have to for you thats another 200 bucks

I would go with the wheels first, then the springs/shocks

Id go suspension first. Big weels with big gap between the wheel and the fender looks funny.

That price is very reasonable, especially the tires, less than $50.00 per tire.

i'd go with H&R and bilstein shocks, but once u get lowered and such you really need to get rims very soon, and also camber arms, but if you get rims, you can wait on getting lowered and camber arms....

How much were the replicas?
Where can I get them?
Do you have pics of them on your car?

i go with rims first, then you can lower to the exact ride height you like...might be too high or too low when you put the rims on

My replicas are the ones from Tirerack, 199 each rim, ASA ST2. And I dont have pics yet since they are being shipped this monday, arriving at my house thursday. They cost 860.00 shipped!

I'll get pictures up as soon as possible.

IF i had $1300 in hand to be spend i'll do it both...the rims and springs only..why? coz if you still have a good shock why would u replace it? how low you wanna go with it? if you want to cut your spring and slam your car down i might get the combo...you can get the replica wheels or used on ebay i believe...or check recyler.com...or go to mbworld.org also...they usually have people sells their amg wheels..hope this help

I've got vogtland springs, stock shocks, stock wheels, no complaints. Drop is about 1.5"F 1"R. Just the springs have really improved the looks and dynamics of the car, I'm glad I didn't save up and get rims first. I agree with aquanote to get rims and springs at the same time if you can afford it and get shocks later. Keep the installation cost in mind though, mine cost $400 with allignment.

I'd get springs and shocks at the same time. The stock ones are not stiff enough to compensate for the new lowered ride height. They will wear out alot faster and since you'll have the suppension off might as well replace everything at once so u don't have to pay for installation and alighnment twice. If your gonna do something, do it right the first time and get both springs and shocks.
