View Full Version : Remove cats, how would it sound?

I'm thinking about removing my cats and I'm wondering how my 4cyl would sound with just the muffler (i've already removed the resonator). Would it be significantly louder? This would just be temporary untill I can afford some high flow cats.
I understand that I'll likely lose some low-end torque and gain some power at higher revs, but how much?
My car is registered in Oklahoma, where they don't require inspections, so I have no worries about it passing emissions tests.

don't know how it would sound, but if you don't have emission tests i would do it..
mine never had a cat,just a resonator,sounds quite...
i also had a typeR integra with a Trust cat back exhaust,i took the cat out same day, hardly a difference in noise!!
...take it out!!:D

if you take the cats out, you might loose a bit of low end torque and gain some top end HP, but the sound level will increase a bit too and it might rattle in the high rpm's.
