check it out guys.
Perhaps we could start a group buy:

or a setup using two of these:

http://www.bmcairfilters.com/infoCDA.aspNow let me explain:Eliminate the stck filters that are in the air box and just use the new filters where the illustration shows. In the stainless steel cannisters .I would then proceed to port out the inside of the air cleaner box which would create tons of volume especially with the filters permanently removed which were perhaps allowing some of the hot air to be trapped in the filter part of the airbox. The stupid filters actually trapped some of the engine heat in that area.ELIMINATE them once and for all.Now just place the new green filters on the outside in the cannisters.,

Is this like that gum commercial double your pleasure, double your fun? In this case double your filter, lower the fun?

You would be impeding the airflow to the motor, the goal is to get the air in there as fast as possible, therefore stacking up a line of air filters in front of the throttle body would only be hurting your performance. As for those BMC filters, I have found on my Dyno that they do not work any better than stock paper filters. Inside the filter is a cone that consumes alot of precious area within the filter housing. I'll post the results taken from the HoP 00 C280 project car.

The best thing to do is install a CAI kit that actually directs cold air taken from a positive area to the engine. The stock air intake gets heat soaked really bad just by sitting on top of the motor. After driving in traffic pop the hood and put your hand on the air intake.

No ,I would remove the stck air filters and port the ridges inside the air box.The only place I'd use the filters are in those stainless steel cannisters in the two inlet arms for the airbox.Only two filters. The ones in the airbox would be completely eliminated.I took it for granted that everyone would have figured on that but I could see why people would think that I'm crazee using 4 filters.Nooooooo eliminate the inner filters and place the new ones outside,

Just eliminate the whole assembly and pull cold air from a positive area near the lower valance. If you remove the air foils or "ridges" inside the airbox you may be doing more harm then good. It is my impression that AMG installed those in the box to direct the airflow in a more cleaner fashion to the MAF meter. If you take a CLK 430 air box apart you will notice that those foils are not present as they are in the AMG version.

that's not how it works...

the filter is inside the canister....

The air will flow from one end to the other end.

The porsche using aluminum flex tubing to connect the air opening to the filter and from the filter to the intake manifold...

The purpose of this filter to completely isolated the engine temp to get suck into the engine...(The use aluminium flextubing to eliminate the stock piping that is more restrictive (a.k.a to many bends and corners)). From the look of it this aluminum piping is more direct and could increase airflow velocity as it doesn't have a lot of corners.. :)

Don't buy any filter that's going to suck any hot air from the engine compartment, you'll lose some ponies because of it.
In which apparently the case with any open end filter like the filter element shown on the above Chrysler 300 ;)

Regardz, I think we're saying the same thing.Yes I know that the filters are in the cannisters and that the air flows from one end to the other, and that the cannisters insulate the filter from the outside heat..That's why I think that this is such a great setup.I figured you guys all understood what I am trying to do here. You guys are killing me! LOL! Ater my dual set up is done I'll just place the E430 engine cover on or see if I could still use the AMG cover somehow.
