im very new to this site and was informed by a friend to check this site out for imformation. Ive probably sat at my comp for like 4 hours yesterday and 4-5 hours today reading all the threads. Its been really helpful but i wanted to ask a question just in case i missed something. the car has 60k and is in very good condition, the seller is asking 19,000-19,500. I was wondering if this a good deal? ive read all the tales of tranny problems etc. and was wondering if any there are any other problems i should look for. I also wanted to know what i should get checked out. Also, is any mechanic good enough to check the car or should i go to someone that specializes in mercedes only. Thanks.

seems like the going price ... as a seller I'd wish for more ('cus it's an AMG, but the market doesn't seem to care), as a buyer I'd think it's a good price.

if the service history is complete and from the dealer I think you are safe

You're good to go if the car is Starmarked. If I were you, I'd look into purchasing an extended warranty from the dealer or third party.
edit: oil changes will cost you. I run Mobile 1 synthetic and it cost like $5-6 a bottle. Cannot remember exactly. If this car will be your first Benz, then be prepared to pay for having your car fixed or serviced.
One of the best things of this site is that you can read about problems others have had, and learn how to do some things yourself.
I've learned how to change out my shocks, repair my broken foglight (which my dealer said would cost $300 to fix), take apart my dash, change my MAS adn various other little things I cannot even remember!

A: talk to your dealer
B: your auto insurance co. might offer a warranty for used cars.
C: my parents got a warranty from their credit union. the car had low miles and was only a few years old so the package they got was almost bumber to bumber.
** (for B & C) they often have criteria for the car, (age, milage, make, model ) then they say what package you can get and how much it will cost.
id start at those places.

without a warranty better think twice.
A C43 with all it's torque taxes a transmission and rear diff lots more than any of the four or six cylinder - non AMG engines.
lower front suspension links can go bad or often have too much play.
Got to be particularly aware of the tricks used to hide paint and interior leather/plastic blemishes
AMG C43 is not a car that likes to be run on a budget
another good sites is www.mercedesshop.com
