battery dead; can't open trunk?

just got back from 10 days away, and the C280 appears to have a dead battery (which I had just replaced in February; maybe I need an alternator?). remote won't unlock doors, so I used the mechanical key, and once inside, no lights on dash, and the key won't turn (?) in the ignition. worst of all, the trunk won't open, so I can't try to simply jump the battery. I can push the trunk release in to no avail, and, using the mechanical key, can lock (horizontal) and unlock (vertical, which is how I usually have it) the trunk, but it won't pop open. any ideas?

well if your battery went dead over 10 days of sitting.. you may have an excessive draw in the electrical system, so it drained your battery.
normal draw in an electrical system is between 15-45 miliamps (0.015-0.045amps)
the alternator only charges the battery while you are idling or driving.

as for opening the trunk.. use the mechanical key, put in lock turn to unlock and press the key in so it presses the button, the trunk should pop up.
you actually have to push the button in, not just turn the key.

thanks--I thought I had tried everything with that mechanical key, but it worked with another try (it's so damn hard to turn 'cause you have no leverage). any chance you can help me with my radio codes, which I now need? VIN: WDBHA29G3YA852763

youre gonna have to go to the dealership and ask them to look it up for you.. bring your ownership with you.. they will most likley ask to see it so they know you are the owner..

and if they say that you have to pay, ask for the manager... this is a FREE service to you, DO NOT PAY FOR THE CODE!!!! (made my mistake) bought it from guy on a website, (wrong code) and mbz on sacramento asked for $30 +/- for it... BS!!!
