My 98 c230 runs fine....unless...If I step on the gas real quickly it seems to go into a no go kinda mode. I step on the gas and it barely moves.

If I turn off the car then restart it seems okay again...unless I step on the pedal very aggressivly...

Any ideas?

hey, maybe MAF sensor is going bad

Check your spark plug wires espacally the rubber boots. There ususlly is a "spark leak" that will throw off your ignition so the car will not fire correctly..

sounds like the car is going into limp mode.

It could be a whole bundle of things from spark plugs, 02 sensors to tranny and MAF. The question i have to ask is there a check engine light>?

Yeah it goes inot limp mode alright....

I would't think spark plugs? Or a bad connection because it's fine if I accelerate slowly. Works for weeks..Only if I step on it fast does it go into this special mode, almost like it's flooded. It still moves a little but feels like the throttle cable becomes completely disconnected....If I immediately restart it's fine again.

my 95 C280 used to do that... but all of a sudden went away without me doing anything and i was happy.... but then my friend used my car and put regular gas for a fill up and it did it again when i accelerated fast..... but now its been on premium octane, working fine again...??? dont know if this helps much but yeah.. thats my story

you know what, my brain just turned on. the most likely problem is a plugged fuel filter. I just remembered that my C280 had the exact symptoms, so I changed the fuel filter and it was all g after that.

The computer needs to be reset, disconnect the neg end of your battery cable for 15-30 mins then reconnect. Also always make sure to use premium and if you happen to use non premium make sure to at least top the rest off with premium ASAP.

SWANK-Is re-setting computer risky? Will that reset anything else?

Resetting the computer is relatively risk free. It will probably reset your stereo, so if it requires a code, make sure you have that.

Its not risky, if youve installed an intake youve most likely had to this before. When introducing alot of new electrical components both internal and under the hood certain false alarms can sometimes result of it.

well my first guess is MAS.. the check engine light must be on though?

it also could be a missfire.. I had a missfire on my car.. checked the code.. and cylinder 4 was missing.. so I swapped coils around.. suppressors around and spark plugs around to see if the miss moved cylinders.. and it did.. was a coil. replaced it in and so far no misses.. but my symptoms were huge ass bog when I floored it.. then it sounded like my cats were plugged.. hardely no acceleration, I then shut off the car.. and restarted.. car drove fine, but check engine light stayed on.
now its luckily fixed.. been almost a week and no problems yet.

no engine light

hmmm.. thats weird. well if it was a plugged cat, you would have missfire codes..
a miss, you would have missfire codes!,
a MAS- maybe codes for self adaptation at limit.. but possibly no code and just a huge bog..
theres a possibility the fuel filter is plugged up...although I have never seen a plugged fuel fiter on a benz.. whens the last time you did a "tune up"? air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs??
