View Full Version : need advice on spray paint for rotors

Im getting my Wheels Saturday and i want to spray paint this area of the rotor so it doesn't rust anymore it's so ugly to look at special with 19's
please help
What kind of spray paint and where?

use high temp engine paint and primer. I would tape up everything except the hat(the rusty part). SAND, PRIME, PAINT.

Or you can paint the whole thing and just get the rotors turned, but make sure you have enough meat to turn them (check with a shop first)

sand all the rusty parts, shoot alot of penetrating oil so that you can get more rust out, wash throughly with simple green or oil eater, let dry. now, if you plan on changing the pads, spray the entire rotor, let dry completely, leave the old pads on and slowly and safely drive around the block a few times braking heavily. now replace the pads and you are all set. otherwise, if you are not changing the pads, then tape off the friction area and spray everything else. of course use a good high temp primer, see if you can find one that inhibits rust as well. as for the paint, use high heat ceramic paint, DO NOT use engine enamel, even though it says its heat resistant.

i suggest get NEW rotors then paint them since they come already primered.

boy i didnt know i have to take all that step.i thought i can just paint it without doing all that work.

if you want the paint to stay attached it will take alittle effort....or buy some replacement brembo items,and paint them,they are well priced!!

thats a clean spring:p

i just used a regular hi temp paint form auto store worked well on my car here is a pic

looks good i didnt get a chance to take a picture. It was to dark already

but new picture of the car by saturday i'll shoot a picture of that area.
