wheels offset question

hey guys - I am looking to purchase some aftermarket wheels for my 99 C280 sportpackage. Currently there is 16 wheels (OEM) with an offset of 37.

What offset can I get away with..... without using spacers or doing any mods?

Do I have to get a 37 offset?
I really don't want to do any mods or use spacers.

If you've SEARCHED like you should then you would know that its 35.
