A few days ago my SRS light came on and now it stays on. I read the manual and I am supposed to take my care to the dealership to get it checked out. Is there anything I can do by myself to fix this or anything I should know about?

my gurls 05 SLK55amg does this same thing.. actually this is the 2nd time! the first time.. the manufacture forgot to put a spring in something? I dunno.. it took 1 week for them to fix the problem, and gave her a chrysler sebring convertable as a loner car.

and the light just came on AGAIN 2 days ago...

F**K chrysler and mercedes!

most likely a defective switch inside one of the seat belt buckles. however, I would get it scanned just to make sure that the air bas system is working properly.

i had a similar problem, the seatbelt switch wasn`t working right, but the srs light stayed for 20 secs then went out.
that`s why i asked you if the light stayed
if the answer is yes, the problem is another thing, could be the in the srs brain.........

maybe the bulb burnt out, happend to my CEL light after a year or so, :)

When my trunk flooded nearly 4 years ago my SRS light came on. It went off about a year ago. Most certainly the bulb went out.

its easy to check if the bulb is working. with the first turn of the key, all the bulbs will light up to show they are working. if the srs light never works at that time, its not working and has to be replaced.

Yep. Except I really don't want another light on my instrument cluster. Having my CEL on year round is annoying enough :)

Would love to get that cluster out and fix those sticky needles though...

Mine is the same way, it tends to do it after ive done electrical work to my car (stereo stuff etc). Disconnect neg post on battery for 15 mins, reconnect, should solve it.
