I read a bunch of posts in here and it seemed fairly easy to replace the OEM HU with a aftermarket HU as long as you got the right tools and harness. But how do you secure the aftermarket HU? Do you use the sleeve that comes with the HU and kinda bend the tabs out to secure the sleeve and then just slide the HU in or is there another way of doing this? This forum is great and there is a ton of info here. Somtimes it's too much, :) , but who's complaining. TIA.

Head Unit... I have an aftermarket HU, but I did not install it myself... I had it professionally installed... athough they did use the sleeve that came with it.

you would usually use the sleeve that comes with the aftermarket hu and then put the deck in . easy as that =)

it should come with a v shaped tool, if not find something of the sort and take the metal cage off the HU then slide that in your dash, push back those triangle metal pieces on it so it catches and cant be moved, do the same with the others only opposite so to catch the headunit once you push it back in. Make sure you have ALL wires secured first.

I put a screw in the back of my monitor housing and chained it to the inside of the ashtray/radio/cass holder area. It wont be that easy to yank it out when its tied to the dash. I also have 4 pizero sirens inside the car as well, high pitch mono tone sirens that make it hard to think.

lol, jesus

Im just now attempting to secure both my indash flip up monitor and my dvd player, going to be a bitch though as i custom fab'd the dash where the old disc changer unit use to be so i could put my cd/dvd player there. (also great because its harder to steal, youve got to put the car in gear to yank it out.

are you putting 2 din units in the front of the car? Such as the monitor where the radio din is, and the dvd under it in a custom fab holder?
