simple as that..the bulb that lights up the speedo is blown. doesnt really bother me THAT much but I'd much rather see the speed i'm going at night. i'm kinda weary about pulling out the instrument cluster..how should i go about fixing this??

you have to remove the instrument panel to replace the bulb. to do this, you will need the instrument panel removal tools, which you can get off ebay for about $5. just slide them inbetween the panel and the dash on each side and pull towards you and the instrument panel is out.

Or you can pull off the tweeter cover and air vent and push it out from the back, or you can remove the panel under the dash in the footwell and reach up that way. The tweeter cover route is the easiest if you don't have the tools. If I remember correctly there are clips inside the left side vent that hold down the front of the tweeter cover (roughly triangular piece with horizontal ridges just above the vent). Might be some screws too. If you fiddle with it enough you'll get it out, then just reach back and push the cluster out. Do a search for "cluster" and you'll find more info.

it looks like the previous owner has pulled out the cluster before because it has some play to it. you can somewhat pull it out if you grab the odo and clock tabs.

where would i find the bulb?

I thought I had to remove mine and get tools and do all that. I went to the dealership which I hate, and bought bulbs. Then I asked them if I can borrow their tools for 1 second, and the tech guy was nice and did the whole thing for me for free. :D Just ask at the dealership, they cost a few dollars.

i pushed mine out but i don't have tilt steering, i didn't mess with it too much and now my car is at the shop getting some goodies, but will it still just slide out?

w/o tilt it's a very tight squeeze, but it'll come out. Pull it out, undo the electrical connectors, then slide it to one side. Be careful not to scuff the top of your steering wheel.
