Scanner not working

I just purchased an Actron scanner and stated Fail ISO-LED. The unit seems to be not compatible with my car. Whats does this really mean and what protocol should I be looking for to get it to read

hey, i got a actron scanner, works good on my 95 c220. try it on another car, see if it's giving the same thing, maybe a bad scanner
