i hate my car.

brake light bulb keeps blowing. i seem to have to buy a new one monthly. i'm just using some standard 12v from walmart. its getting ridiculous. i just changed it again and its still out. i dont get it.

also when my driving lights are on..the "bulb out" light is on. but all lights seem fine. high beams, low beams, corners, turn signals, tail lights. all fine. what could it be.

The most replaceable bulbs in the W202 are the headlight bulbs and brake light bulbs!
and for one thing you need to be using the proper MB bulbs.. yeh I know they cost more.. but if you get in tight with a service advisor he may give ya a bulb here and there.. the ones from walmart and all that suck ass.. ya really need the MB ones. I always see customers with aftermarket bulbs in their car.. they always end up coming back to use for bulbs!

as for the bulb out light.. if a bulb goes out the light will go on.. if it starts working again the light will still stay on untill you restart your car, so you may have had a bulb go out and ocme back on again, so when you went out to see what one it was.. it was back on and you couldnt tell! it could be a bulb with a loose filament, could be a brake or tail light bulb and the bulb holder has a open in the grid, or a loose bulb in the holder.
just have to keep checking and hope you catch it when the bulb goes out.

I've been using PIAA front/fog and Sylvania rear with no qualms or concerns. As far as I know, Mercedes doesn't make bulbs. They are probably rebadged Osram/Sylvania anyway.

The stock bulbs that I have pulled out have been Osram/Sylvania. Mercedes simply rebadges the packaging... And charges double at least, I'm sure. You can by Osram/Sylvania at most autopart stores.

ok i figured out that the right brake and tail light are really loose and dont have a very good connection. i used scotch tape at the base of the bulb (metal part) and tugged it down against the plastic of that whole assembly. i dont know how safe this is but its working for now.

but the light out light is still on on the dash when i turn on the corner lights. is there a bulb i'm forgetting?

are you using any type of aftermarket lighting system? if so... what are you using? did you check to make sure your turn signals are functioning properly? did you check to see if your foglights were on? you may have the foglight switch turned on but the foglights are either burned out or disconnected and thus causing the bulb out indicator in the cluster...

PS... the bulb out indicator in mercedes doesnt necessarily check for a bulb being out... but rather if the correct voltage is being sent through the lighting system... therefore... either faulty wiring or aftermarket lighting systems can also cause the bulb out indicator...

The bulbs in the front of my car have never given me a single problem. However the bulbs in the rear go out at least once a day. It's not the bulbs, though. It seems to be a bad connection in my case also. I have a reverse light that NEVER seems to work on its own. I more or less have to walk around the rear of my car and slap each tail light assembly before I get in, or half the bulbs back there won't work. Plus, about 90% of the time my bulbs aren't working, there's no indicator on my dash letting me know. So nearly everyone I know that's seen me on the road feels it necessary to inform me that my "import" has a tail light out.

Silly!
