View Full Version : Cracked skid plate courtesy of FORD

OK- so some asshole in a (F)ix (O)r (R)epair (D)aily explorer pulled out in front of me without looking on a wet road the other day. Long story short, I swerved to avoid him and spun 180 degrees, just barely missing smashing into a tree. What I did do was partially run up onto an embankment. Luckily, harldy any damage. The only thing that happened was the left (driver's side) part of the "skid plate" under the car cracked off. It was the section directly under the ducting to cool the brakes. (the one that is fed by the hole where fog lights would be on AMG W202's) What I am wondering is, is this a necessary piece? I think I saw a post the other day (was it Mr. Gatsbury?) who said he removed his skid plate, but I thought he ment the center section. The actual brake ducting is still intact and in the right place. I guess what I'm really saying is will this cause any issues with aeordymanics or noise? So far, no noticeable problems. Thanks-

O.T.... what an ass hole, did he at least stop and see if you are okay? did you get ins info? plate number? i would have him pay for it! i'm really anal about that shit because i have been pushed around by people who have been at fault because i was too nice (i was "at fault" when I was rear ended[WTF])...just asking... sorry to jack ur thead

Yeh damn guy drove away. I couldn't chase him cause my car stalled when I spun out. By the time I got myself turned back around he was long gone. Nice guy huh?

I bought one of these about 6 month ago from the dealer.
The cost was about $ 30.00. ;)

I would have lost it! Fuck that! I HATE people who do that shit. I had an idiot do that crap to me getting on the freeway this morining. He decided he was gonna drive slow in the other lane and then all the sudden decides he wants in front of me as I'm pounding it to get on the freeway. AAAAHHH!:angry:
