well hi guys.. I am looking at the box on my Alpine 5ch amp. and it says...

50watts x4 + 200watts x1 RMS 4ohm @14.4v

and!

30watts x4 + 150watts x2 RMS 4ohm @12v

now while I am running my car.. the voltage says somewhere at 13.3 volts so I am guessing im running a little more then 30watts to each of my 4ch. and a little over 150watts to my sub..

now my question is.. how the heck and what car runs at 14.4 volts?

this has me thinking becuzz a typical headunit "SAYS" 50watts x4 but in reality its only about 20-23 watts RMS x4.. and I am feeling real shitty for installing a 5ch amp, running all new wires and all this money for the extra 4ch on the amp for a measly 10 or so watts, which frankly I doubt anyone would notice.

thats weird, my car runs at 14.0-14.2 volts when my car is on... get a high performance alternator if they make one

our cars run around 14+

other cars you can gain that with aftermarket battery (ie: stinger, optima) asd afternarjet alternators...

hmmm... my guess is my battery is old? hehe

I hooked up a volt meter to my car while it was running and it read something like 13.3 volts

okay rechecked my volts.. now its reading 13.8 volts.. ALMOST 14!!!

Your voltage will vary depending on what kind of current is being drawn (ie blower fans, stereo, lights.. etc)

And by the way, having an external amplifier will almost always make it sound way better than the internal amplifier on the CD player. They typically only put out 18-23watts RMS.

ya u figure the deck amp is built into the deck which is very small, a 4 channel amp is much larger... makes sense which will sound better

also I dont think the battery has a lot to do with the amps while the car is on, since you can have no battery once the car is running without the car dying
