okay well I have this camera im going to install as my reverse camera and it accepts a 9volt battery.. or with its wall socket plug.. now with it hooked up to the powerpack and pluged into the wall it says its accepting 12volts DC...

now I was wondering if I could just hard wire the camera to my car..

I dont know the difference on AC or DC but DC is direct current.. but I would think if it accepts 9volts AC and CAN accept 12volts DC I could most def hook it up to the 12volt power source in my car

Won't be much help, but just to clarify, the 9v battery would be DC. As far as I'm aware of all batteries unless connected to an inverter will be Direct Current. Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken.

DC is direct current, and AC is alternating current. Household electricity is AC and runs at around 110 volts for most appliences. Alternating current reverses the direction of travel of the electrons sinusoidily (sp?) at a certain frequency, which is different for different countries, I believe. That's about all I came away from Physics II with, so my knowledge is limited.

As noted in your previous post our cars run a little above 12v. You could always ask the friendly people at your local RadioShack, or other electronics store, how to wire your camera and not fry it. I've found them very helpful in these matters.
