ummmm, crap!

well, eairlier it was working fine but now my trunk wont open, i checked the fuses, i tried the remote, inside switch, and the outside button... nothin =( i need to get in there but i cant think of what else i could try or what could be wrong =( help please!

it's ur daym flip flop trunk!! :) jus messin man... i think i saw a thread on here about it a few months ago...eitehr here or benzworld someother forum... did you try your laser cut key?? that should be the manual override i hear about...

so i tried that key and no go...=( shit! what else could it be? is there a fuse im missing checking? i looked again and they all seem fine.. all the locks unlocks work just the trunk wont open/pop.... anyone? *sniffle

One day when I was working on my stereo I closed the trunk by accident, knowing it wouldn’t open by key I folded down my seat, hopped in the trunk with a flashlight and screwdriver, 5 min later I popped out and everything has been fine since. You just need to find the right area and have patience, with minimal work it can happen.

If you have fold down seats you will have to remove the bottom cushion. At the corners you will feel a tab to depress then the seat will just come out. Then using a socket wrench undo all the bolts you can see that hold the seat back.

You wont be able to remove the seat completly because its still latched on. But you can move them out of the way enough for you to crawl into your trunk remove the cover that hides the bolt to the trunk latch.

Undo that and the trunk will open.

i had the same issue as another poster closing the trunk by accident and then i had to fold the seats down dive into the trunk and reconnect the battery.
at that point the alarm kicked off really loud and it took me a long time to get out of the trunk and turn it off :)

so mechanical key didn't work for me, but one i had the battery reconnected it worked fine, so i think mechanical key works by engaging some sort of a servo and this is a really weird design especially considering that the battery and some fuses are in the trunk!!!
who the heck thought of that i wonder . . .

anyway, if you find a good way to open it please share i have a feeling others will be grateful to you for sharing this valuable info.

The mechanical key will open the trunk.. try again man.. put the key in the lock, turn to the left or right (cant remember) and push the lock in.. it should open.

so after taking the seat all unbolted it pulls back a lil (enough to get my hand behind it) but its being held by the seat release... is the latch/whatever reachable by reaching behind? i reached around for a lil but couldnt find anything.... or is there another way to get the seat undone? thanks! im really starting to get frustrated =(
