I just got a 00 c230k sport, black.

I love the sport package, as my previous w202 had all that chrome all over the place and really made it look more like an old mans car.

The thing i dont like is all the badging on the trunk. I think it would look a lot cleaner without it, especially that kompressor badge, might as well be a neon sign.

Now, My car is black, the paint is great, but im sure it has faded some over the years. Is debadging it a good idea, or leave well enough alone. I'm worried about seeing the outlines of the badges on the trunk.

Opinions / ideas?

Thanks,

George

i say do it. it won't leave anything after your all done and will look much cleaner. use goo gone or some adhesive remover (the one i used was by 3m, don't remember the actual name though) along with dental floss to help get behind. some you can pull as you cut away the dried glue. i didn't need a heat gun or hair dryer, just park in the sun. then once all the dried glue is removed you can clean the area and wax. there should be other write-up's on this forum as well as others.

I used a constant cold water stream and unwaxed dental floss to take mine off... A little bug/tar to remove the excess glue and it was factory shine... if you have problems with fading you can just hit the general area with a light compound until it feathers in with the rest of the paint colour.

Good luck,

do it, mines a 1997 no diffence in paint colour or anything, hair dryer and goo gone are they way to go, use the hair dryer to heat the glue on the back of the number then use dental floss to cut it off the car and then use goo gone to remove left over glue dont forget to wax it after
