Hi, I just bought a Lowrance nav system and the cigarette lighter adapter it came with does not stay in the car's cigarette lighter at all! I get no connection whatsoever.

Do I have any options other than hard wiring it into the car's electrical system (which I will do eventually as this nav box has a built in MP3 storage unit). Yes, I know returning the nav system is also an option but I'd rather keep it LOL.

hey jim i think the best thing to do is to hardwire it...im pretty sure they sell a hardwire kit for that but check if you can just do what i did.

i bought a radar detector 2 days ago and was stuck in what to do because it was powered through the cigarette lighter. and i wanted a cleaner setup. So from what i saw from the board people bought hardwire kits for their radar detectors and installed it but what i did was just cut the end where the part you plug into the cigarette lighter and just strip the rubber part at the end which im sure everyone is familiar with than just connect it to the back of the cigarette lighter wires and it will turn on only when the power of the car is on. Hope this gives you an idea if you need more help, dont hesitate to ask!

I used add-a-circuits from Autozone to hardwire my carputer stuff into my car's fuse box, they work great I would get on of those and hardwire it.

does your cigarette ligther works? test it first.

Maybe the fuse is broken. The fuse is located behins the ashtray.
