You car requires servicing every 10000 miles. It can be described in more detain in your owner's manual. The -200 means you are 200 miles over the 10000 mile mark. So in actuality, you have driven 10200 miles since the car was either reset or serviced.

1. Turn the key to No. 2 position
2. Hit the lowest button, underneath the dimmer lights, twice really fast.
This will show you either a mileage or days.
It's the same display as you odometer.
3. Turn the key off.
4. Hold the same button & turn the key back on. Hold the button for 10 seconds, until you hear a beep.
5. You should now see a new mileage ( 10 k miles ).
6. Send me a beer.

step 6 is most important! :D

actually the most important part is step 0 - changing your engine oil and filter :)

Then you did the steps wrong. It is described pretty well in the Manual. I do remember it being difficult the first few times I tried it, now no problemo.

Dont reset your lights if you need service. Get your oil/service done then reset the lights. 10,000 miles for an oil change is ridiculous, have any of you guys ever taken a sample out of your oil after 10K miles of use and sent it into Blackstone Labs for an oil analysis? According to blackstone, they advise me to change my oil every 5K miles or so. I change it a 3K miles every time.

Exactly. There was a big lawsuit over the "recommended" 10K oil changes and the fact the dealership was using regular oil and not synthetic.

You should definitely change your oil (unless you know for sure you havent 10700 miles on the current oil). My recommendation would be to use synthetic oils and change it every 3000-4500 miles. When you change to that cycle, then reset your service counter accordingly.

I have not gone 10700 miles without changing the oil.I do it every 3,000 miles but I have been taking it to a local lube shop instead of a dealer.I thought that service indicator wanted more than an oil change,I though it meant it needs a whole tune up at the dealer thats gonna cost some big $$.Does anybody have a link the the repair manual so I can reset it?Thanks for the help guys,im new to mercedes.
