I have decided to do a custom grille on my W202.. I have decided to modify the stock chrome portion of the grille and then use wire mesh in place of the grille.
Here is a pic of what Im doing... yes its a crude photoshop!!.. I did it in windows paint program!! lol

Are those actual M3 mirrors or are they M3 style? Were they hard to fit?

albert extream 500 on bnzsport has that style of grill and so does run.exe of bnzsport/500extacy. you might want to contact them for tips on how they fished the hood latch.

They are actual Hagus M3 style mirrors.. not real M3 mirrors. and they are a direct fit (but Hagus doesnt make them anymore)

The problem with this is the hood release. I was thinking about doing it, but once again the only solution i could come up with was removing the lever, and using some sort of wire or something with a small straight edge on it to pull the hood release instead. If you cut the mesh, it basically looks like crap,

Take care,

George

i've seen a new body style BMW 5 series with custom grill, they welded a handel that went down and formed an L shape at the bottom, less noticable then in the middle...

as pictured above, I need to finish off the ends of the chrome frame by hammering those tabs I left on there straight and then welding them to smooth everything out.

It seems like you just cut the bottom edge of the grille frame off, and then reinserted the stock grille insert?

Yes thats what I did.. for now. I still need to get some mesh to make the new insert and do some work on the chrome frame itself (welding) but I wanted to drive my car today so I put it back together.

Can you tell me more about your intake setup? I was under the impression that you couldnt do an intake on the 230k due to the intercooler.

Thanks,

George
