Hey, a while back I had posted that my 2ndary air injection pump had failed. It's basically (from what I've been told) an air pump that pumps oxygen into the exhaust stream before the cats heat up so that it will pass emission inspections. There are no inspections here, and the pump makes a very loud whine until it's warmed up. Not to mention the CEL it throws is annoying. Does anyone know how to disable/remove this pump, or where it's located so I can at least tool around with it? Getting rid of that CEL would be nice for when it comes time to sell it.

Thanks in advance.

the air pump also evacuates gases from the crankcase to lower oil fumes at startup and during hard acceleration. this in turn improves performance a bit. replacing the pump would be beneficial, but if you dont have the funds or want to disable it, here is what to do. you can either unplug it the connector to the pump located at the top of the pump, just below the alternator. or you can remove a fuse that is labeled "engine components" this will also disable the air pump.

I believe the last time I was quoted a price for this part, it was in the neighborhood of $600.. However, I wasn't aware of the pump's other purpose. I might go ahead and replace it anyway if I can find one at a decent price...
