you have to remove the rear view mirror bracket by pushing outwards on it, they you can unclip the dome light assembly by prying the front with a screwdriver and the back will slide out.

yea. i took my whole roof lining out like a week ago.
just hang on the mirror and it comes off, its held by a spring pin thing.
then the front of the light pull backt then down and the front should come out then down (the light thing that is)

There's a fan inside the domelight assembly? What?

Wow. Do i push the rearview mirror towards the windshield or just pull it down. it does not seem to budge any which way.

when I installed the auto-dimming rear view mirror on my C280, it came off when I pushed it towards the windshield, it might take some muscle to pop it out. but first remove the mirror and then push on the bracket. just be careful not to crack the windshield:)

Damn ya all got to it before me!!...
as everyone said.. remove the rear view mirror by pullit dawn and kinda sideways...
then remove both bulb covers as you have done form the pic.. pry down on the front of the domelamp assembly lightly.. then using a flat mall bladed screwdriver there are 2 metal tabs that can be seen at the front edge of the domelamp..

It sucks air from the cabin then checks the temperature.. It uses that reading and others to set the inside air temperature according to the setting on yoru climate control.

Strange! I've never heard a fan in there, nor can I feel any air moving when I hold my hand up to it. Learn something new every day...

If you hear it then it is broken.

that small fan in the domelamp is actually called an "aspirator blower motor"
it does what everyone says.. samples the air in the car for the climate control.
