I took my car to Tahoe for a week, i filled up at a weird gas station when i was heading home. After that my car started to shake at stoplights, or whenever i was idling. On the freeway, it works fine and stuff. ITs weird. This sucks. Even the check engine light comes on. CRAP~~!

might be the water in the gas. get a water remover treatment from a parts store and it should be good.

I really hope that will work. I am having a really bad week. First my cell phone breaks, then my car, then my car gets hit in a parking lot today, on top of that it hit my car in the moldings that I just painted to color match my car to get rid of the grey. I hate life right now. This sucks. Thanks for the help.

This is not as gas-station dependent, but I had the same problem with my C280 when I first got it used.

I took it a M-B dealership for the light issue and they said they cleaned the water up. Afterwards, the problem came back and the dealership had to change my air sensor.

Hope that helps...

I just changed my MAF about 8 months ago....hmmm, i basically mixed new fuel with the old and i still have the same problem. Weird thing is that it only happens once in a while. My muffler really shakes and makes a put-put sound during the times that my car shakes. My check engine turns off everytime my car stops shaking. Hmmmmmmm....I wanna cry.

sounds like its backfiring. that could be from bad gas.

It is most likely bad gas that is causing this problem.
as you mentioned in your original post freestyler.. you gased up at a "weird" gas station!... just let the old gas run through and after the next fill up from a known gas station.. you should be fine.
they may have badged the regular octane gas as high octane gas.. and charged high octane prices.
ya got cheated man!

yupe sounds like a bad gas.

Sometime, it is easy to diagnose the problem is you could back-track anything that you do other than usual (such as filling up at some weird gas station).

I hope that is the culprit.

Well the problem is that I had a quarter of a tank left of the "bad" fuel, when I went to chevron and filled my tank to the max. Now, I have half a tank and the problem still persists. I wonder if it is a sparkplug issue. I havent changed my sparkplugs for 40,000 miles......hmmmmm.....:crying::(

well even if you have half a tank after filling up with good gas.. you stll have bad gas mixed in with the good gas.. so it may take a couple fill ups to clear it out.. try filling up a couple more times and see what happens...

just a thought, maybe you should try to use up all your gas till it is empty plus whatever the reserve is, that way the next time you gas up it will be a fresh tank and no mixture of the old. like i said just a thought not sure if that'll work, someone can correct me.
