c36 suspension job report

Well i finally made the time to swap out my lower control arms and ball joints on my 1995 c36. Let me say first it was fairly easy. While I was at it I decided to cut one coil off all springs and switch to number one pads all around. I also installed adjustable rear camber arms. Appearance wise it looks good enough for me. One finger gap in the rear two in the front with no rubbing at all. I was a little concerned about the ride quality but it is better than before. I am very happy it came out so well or I would have spent the cash and bought the vogtland kit. I did the job alone and it took me 6 hours to do. The first side took the longest because I was figuring out what to disassemble. After that it was a piece of cake. Check out my old pics in members gallery and you'll see it used to look like a 4x4. I'll post pics on Monday once the alignment is done. Alignment guy told me it wont be a problem to get it aligned close to or right to mercedes specs.

good job, but I dont think the front will be in the specs since its only adjustable for 1.5degrees from zero in either way, and if you cut one coil off, that about 2-2.5degrees off of alignment. what you can do for the front is what I did, which is expand the control arm bolt holes about an inch both ways so that the bolt can travel in either direction allowing great adjustability.

Okay here are my alignment results

Left front camber -1.0 toe 0.15

Right front camber -.5 toe .20

Left rear camber -1.7 toe .23

Right rear camber -1.7 toe .23

According to the print out and the alignment shop all are within Mercedes spec tolerances. It rides great I got it up t0 135 mph yesterday evening on I-95 north and it was stable and the ride was comfortable. Needless to say i'm happy, today i'll be nice to the guys at work:D
