I have a 1995 C220 and i haven't changed brakes before. I want to change it myself. Can someone supply me with instructions on how to change them? I don't want to pay anyone to do it.

Are you changing the pads, or the pads AND rotors? It's not too complicated either way. But if you're changing the rotors, there's about 2 bolts per wheel that you'll have a tough time getting loose, but it CAN be done, and it's not at all complicated.

um, yeah. its the circle with dashes around it. it turns on when the brake pad sensor closes the circuit, meaning the pads are worn beyond their operable thickness.

Yes,

And that is a warning light for worn brake pad..

There are no indicator for worn rotor, so you will have to inspect the rotor physically to determine if it needs replacing.

How can you tell if the rotor is worn out?

If there is any sort of grooves that are etched in, cracking.. etc. Also if your steering wheel/car shudders while braking, most likely your rotor(s) are warped.

You should always replace your rotors. Never have them turned. Brakes are a very key safety feature of your car, so you might as well just replace them when they go bad.

Exactly! I cant stress this enough to my customers. They all want to save a few bucks, but in the end when I explain them the safety hazards, they gladly pay for the new ones.
