Well, I was cruising on the freeway, nothing ridiculous, halfway between sac and reno (on the way to reno) and out of nowhere my 230 lurches and drops to neutral, leaving me a sitting duck in midday traffic, I get off the road, turn off the car, start it up and go again. 1/2 mile later, same thing, right at a shift. pull over, reboot. back on the road, cruising about 800 feet, then bam, ceases up AGAIN, this time with a check engine light and some big vibrations, I pull off the road and wait 5 hours in the heat for a tow.
any ideas what it could be? It's currently 10 miles down the road sitting in the mercedes lot, while I'm stuck in my dorm with no car...
thanks

wow... how many miles are on ur ride? and how much were the parts w\o labor to fix it?
I am having simular probs.. except its my supercharger... as soon as my rpm hits like 4-5k it jerks back and my supercharger stops working untill I reboot teh car...
after I start it back up and throw it into drive... it starts off in 2nd no matter what.. jerks into 1st gear really harsh then shifts to 2nd again..

That sounds like what mine was doing, but they said its the tranny not the supercharger...
she just hit 80,000 miles.
waiting for a call back on price.

that sux! I had some really bad experiance with mercedes and transmissions on my last car.. it costed over 4k blown head gasket and transmission.
the reason I know its my supercharger is becuzz I have a custom intake on the car and I can hear the supercharger very clear. its like.... you hear it at 5k RPM very loud... then you dont! lol...
I also have a boost gauge.
I bet this happens to some other c230s but they never realise it becuzz stock and w\o a boost gauge u would never know u had a supercharger lol
btw.. I have a 92 190e.. and it is said to need a new valve body too... reason why is it shifts at 2k rpm no matter what.. by the time I hit 25mph im in 4th gear already..

what kind of boost guage do you have? can you post pics so we can see its placement? was install a biatch?

install was ez becuzz iv had a turbo vw jetta 1.8, volvo turbo and a 03 wrx turbo.. and the boost gauge was in all those cars too..
its an autometer.. it only reaches a factory boost of 5lbs.. but its a good way of telling if your car is running okay becuze of the vacum

Final Verdict:
Car still in the shop, parts being trucked in for a monday replacement...
Problem was something blew in the tranny and sprayed fluid all over shift CPU and such things (the opened the floor under the passenger side and there was tranny goo everywhere), then the shift cpu fried and killed the gears somehow, basically the car can't shift. So now I get a new tranny, should be sweet!
Should be done by tuesday or wednesday
I'm getting wisdom teeth pulled tuesday, so car is staying in Reno a few extra days :(
Guy at the dealership says total cost would have been over $7000 if I didn't have the warranty
and MBZ flew me to my meeting in LA for free! WOO!
