I have two MB QUART PWE302 subs and I am going to have an MB QUART RAA1000 pushing both of them. I was looking at an old car audio magazine and saw that they had positioned their subs facing the cab. I have always had subs facing the trunk lid and I have never had a problem with them like that, but I wanted to know how it would sound if they were placed facing the cab. Would there be a big difference in the way they are positioned or really not much of a difference. I guess the only reason I'm considering placing the subs towards the cab is for aesthetic reasons. I would appreciate any advice.

well to start off positioning the subs towards the cab would sound like ass. next its mostly for csometics. facing towards the trunk will yield the best sound.;)

not necessarily....

to be more specific, the best position will be depend on each car...also what kind of sound are you looking for , SPL vs Sound Quality..

If you looking for sound quality
For car with ski-hole m you could construct custom enclosure so that the subwoofer will fire to the cabin directly.
This is my exprience which yield the most detail sounds.

The drawback of facing the sub firing to the trunk lid is that it will resonance in the trunk a lot before the sound hit the cabin (hence the sound tend to be a little bomie), but then again it could also be compensate but the fine-tuning and other factor such as creating hole in the rear deck so the sound could penetrate to the interior.. (this minimize excessive resonance in the trunk and improve sound quality)

But if you're looking for SPL, there are a lot otherway to achieve , rather than just facing the sub firing-back to the trunklid.

just for reference this is my old setiup

agreed. I have a basslink mounted upside-down (hanging) in the back right corner of the trunk. Sounded a little better, but not at all like what I expected based upon what the basslink sounded like in my acura integra (RIP).

I removed the deck speaker (I have BOSE) directly above the sub a few days ago and it sounds muuuuuuch better. Think it would sound even better if I removed the other one? Do I even need that thing?

THEN, the other day I had a butt-load of stuff in my trunk, virtually forming and enclosure around the basslink. It was boooooomin'. Thinking about building some kind of enclosure around it now...any thoughts?
