I'm looking to install a cone air filter into a '99 c280. I tried to do this the other day but since I had to disconnect the mass air flow sensor the car ran poorly. So now I'm looking to connect the filter where the vacumm hosing and the factory air box meet. I basically just want to connect the new filter where the air box is connected right now. This way I can still keep the MAS attached. The main problem is the air filter and vacuum hose that's going into the air box currently do not fit each other , so I was wondering if aonyone had suggestions about how I could connect the two. Thanks.

Wish I could answer your question, but I just have a comment. I know that a few guys around here have a setup like this and that it's sucking in hot engine air. I'm wondering what exactly the trade-off is between less restriction and warmer air...? You might want to consider using some piping to put the filter underneeth where the stock air box sits, i.e. inside the bumper.

Try doing a search of past posts if you haven't yet, might find an answer.

Thanks for the link. This is exactly what I was looking for. I just bought the kit today. I was thinking about trying to make a kit like this, but was too lazy to go to home depot.
