I don't think anyone in club202 has ever done an auto to manual conversion.

donno if the slk (230k) 5spd manual tranny's will bolt on to a c220 block.

I think a 190E 2.3 tranny might work, however I am not sure.

Sure looks like he is on CLUB202 (http://www.club202.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6539)

Fastmayte: you may want to click the link above and email the OP about his setup. But you may also want to note his comment on the shifter itself as when I drove a R170 manual I felt the shifting to be vague at best as well.

U wouldnt need to change axels, maby the diff (because it would have a ratio designed for autos) but would still work. im not sure if the driveshaft is longer or not but that would need to be a consideration.
And finding an extra pedal sumwhere ;-)
To improve the shifting all you need to do is replace the little nylon bushes alone the shift linkage as the get badly worn

Go for it youl love a manual one way more
And yes the shifting is a little vague compared to say a japa but u get used to it easily.

What about useing one of the 6spds from a new c230. Doesn't the 4 and I6 engines all use the bolt pattern?
