I have searced and didn't see any other posts quite like mine.

When I turn my car on in the morning the first shift from 1st to 2nd is REALLY jerky (whiplash lol) . Then it is fine for the rest of the gears. When I get to the end of my road and start again (1st to 2nd ) the jolt will occur but at about half the force. This problem will then not occur until the following morning. It only occurs the first time that car is driven that day. I dont understand what the problem is.

1999 C230K btw

It should shift fine once the catalytic converter has warmed up.

Completely normal. Cold transmission.
My 1994 C280 does it.
My mother's 1992 300e did it.
My sister's 2005 C240 sorta does it.

I'm so glad I posted this. I was going to start of throwing my money away on a fluid change. However, the dealership did say it was normal and not to worry . I think the guy was like "its the nature of the beast" lol.

I have a question....

I just got a 2000 C230K with 80 000 kms on it.

I knew about the cold harsh shifting from previous benzes so what I do is drive it slowly for the first few shifts letting the engine warm up. Is this ok?

Also I noticed in city driving the downshifts are a little harsh....I beleive its the one going from 2nd to first...it will give u a tug forward in ur seat...and this is not coming from a high speed...rather just normal city driving.

I dont think my car ever had a tranny fluid change...woudl this solve it?
