hey guys, recently, I installed a new grill.

but when I installed it, I forgot all about the hood release latch. The latch is now stuck behind the grill and I can't pop the hood all the way. (stupid me) :confused: Any suggestions? the only thing i can think of is trying to cut the plastic latch so i can release the hood and just buy a new latch for 5 bux off ebay..i dont know. any feedback would b helpful.

how is the latch stuck? Since the pull is flexible plastic, you might want to try wiggling a scewdriver to try and free. A more harsh option would be to pop the hood release then use a set of needle nose pliers to try and free it.

Can you at least partially get to the release?

why dont you just reinstall it with the latch in proper position. nothing like learning from your mistake.

Hi

LOL! The same shit happend to me twice!!! last time a few months ago... so youre not the only stupid one on this planet.
I could get it with 2 screw driver. U can stick them trough the grid of your grill. Then take with them the release latch and pull it down... thats the way i was successfull...

@steponit

If your no car hijaker you can just install/deinstall the grill by opening the hood :confused:

I hope you'll get it! ;)

hahah, thanks for all your replies, it was very helpful. i got the hood open by reaching under the small spot I could and released the hood manually. I guess its better to install parts during the day when there is LIGHT n i could SEE. alright thx :D

That would be quite a challenge without opening the hood first.

just get some strong wire and make a U hook at one end then feed it thru the grille and hook it onto the latch thingy. simple.

I broke that thing twice. First time was a mechanic though!

I have a handi tie now, it works really well :D
