I have been reading through a few web sites about various ac probs but have not found the same issue that I am having. My ac works fine, its just the screen that is loosing info i.e. parts of numbers or going almost blank. I can tap on it and get some of the info back but it is never 100%
I tried to reset it by holding down the button and turning the car off then back on again but it didnt work.
I read that the gasket behind the keys will stick causing this problem but no real info on how to correct this or if this is in fact the root of the problem.
Any info you can provide would be great.

From what I can make out this seems to be quite a common thing with the MB climate control unit. Mine will fade accasionally and on tapping the screen the display will re appear.
Initially this put me off purchasing the car I have but found it quite common amongst owners of other C43's.
Unfortunatly you have only 2 choices
(1)Live with it
(2) Buy a new unit.
Mine isnt too bad so I am going to make do. Occasionally in the UK you get the odd one come up on ebay but then you take your chance as to that being the same.
Or from the stealers they are about £300GBP

This is a very common problem with the climat control unit. I would keep an eye on ebay for a new/used one or you could go to the dealer and probably pay a fortune for a new one.

dealership says its a flaw in the display that causes the crystal section to come apart from the readout. Temperature affects it. Only cure is to replace it to the tune of $525.00
thanks for input all :D

I'm late to this thread, but I thought I'd mention... Mine did that after I braked hard and the large dunk'n donuts coffee that wasn't held too well in the cupholder flew forward and smashed agains the dash (needed a new tranni shiftwer module over time because of it too)
All was replaced though under warranty tho. If you have one (a warranty), I'd say use it. ;)

the display settled down and now only the upper left corner is missing. I can tap it and it will come back or sometimes it will come back on its own. 76 degrees looks like 16. Any way I replaced it anyway so if someone wants this control I will sell it. Make me an offer and/or i will put it on ebay. New it was $575.
