Im in the process of changing out my suspension and noticed that the shocks on the car are stamped bilstein but they are black. Every bilstein shock I have ever seen is yellow. did some c43 come with bilsteins? If someone replaced the factory shocks with bilsteins at some point, do you suppose they used an inferior grade bilstein shock ala car-x, meinikie, etc....

The C43 had bilsteins from factory, however they're not the aftermarket hd ones (yellow ones). They're the standard blisteins.

are these inferior to after market bilstein sport shocks? If I lower my car will these shocks "take it" better or do I still need to get after market shocks?

Many thanks.

The "aftermarket" or sport bilsteins are designed for lowered cars, "factory" bilsteins are not designed for lowered cars. If you're gonna lower your car go with the sport ones.

I was under the impression that C43's had specially tuned Bilsteins. Something to do with the valving. It may have been the C36's I'm thinking of, though.

I thought the regular HD bilsteins for our cars were 80 a piece while the sports were about 120.

Am I wrong? Is there a $600 difference in black/yellow.

Pure-motorsport has the bilsteins for $300. $600 is way too much.

you are correct..
these bilstein is special valved bilstein for AMG.

you should find AMG imprint on the shock body on C36's and C43's
